Political activist Nuru Okanga has criticised Linda Mwananchi movement leader Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of sidelining Western Kenya leaders during political rallies and instead giving a platform to Pauline Njoroge and Gen Z Baddie.
Speaking during a public address, Nuru Okanga claimed Sifuna had failed to recognise leaders from the Western region while introducing personalities from outside the area.
“You cannot come to a Western rally and bring Gen Z Baddie. You leave out Western leaders and instead introduce Gen Z Baddie and Pauline Njoroge. Those people are from Mt. Kenya,” he said.

He further argued that issues affecting the Luhya community should be addressed by leaders from the region.
“When it comes to matters concerning the Luhya people and our language, I am the one who speaks to the Luhya people. Pauline Njoroge should go back to Mt. Kenya; those are her people,” Okanga added.

Additionally, Nuru Okanga defended his criticism of Sifuna, saying political leaders should be prepared to receive honest feedback regardless of who delivers it.
He further recalled previously speaking at political rallies where ODM leader Raila Odinga had allegedly given him an opportunity to address supporters.
“Even if I don’t have money, I will still speak. I even spoke in Bungoma. Raila himself used to call me and give me a chance to speak. When a leader makes a mistake, we must tell them where they have gone wrong,” he said.
Defends Linda Mwananchi Supporters
Okanga also dismissed claims that supporters of the Linda Mwananchi movement are being financially sponsored by political leaders to attend rallies.
He insisted that members of the movement participate voluntarily and are not motivated by financial gains.
“Our leaders in Linda Mwananchi should know that people say we are being paid to attend their meetings. We are not being paid by those leaders,” Okanga said.
