Detectives from the Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) have arrested a woman suspected of fraudulently acquiring a parcel of land linked to a deceased estate in Juja Farm.

Agnes Wairimu Gachanja was arrested on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in Ruiru while attending a defence hearing for a separate land fraud case also being investigated by the LFIU.

The current case was brought forward by two complainants who serve as administrators of their late father’s estate after his death in 2008.

During the succession process, they conducted an official search at the Thika Land Registry and discovered the suspected irregular transfer.

“The complainants discovered, during an official search at the Thika Land Registry as part of the succession process, that a parcel of land measuring approximately 0.0825 hectares in Juja Farm had been transferred to an unknown individual without their knowledge or consent,” DCI stated.

Following the discovery, LFIU detectives investigated the ownership and transfer of the parcel. Their investigation revealed that the property was subsequently sold for Ksh 800,000.

The detectives then completed their investigations and forwarded a duplicate police case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for review.

“Following the completion of the investigations, a duplicate police case file was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP),” DCI said.

After reviewing the file, the ODPP agreed with the investigating officer’s recommendation to charge Gachanja with three offences: conspiracy to defraud, uttering false documents and intermeddling with the property of a deceased person.

Gachanja was processed and is scheduled to appear before the Ruiru Law Courts on Thursday, August 20, 2026, to face the charges.
