Teenager Detained as Police Probe Alleged Sexual Assault of Four-Year-Old

Police in Baringo Central have detained a 15-year-old boy following an alleged sexual assault involving a four-year-old child in Kasore Village, Ewalel Chapchap Ward.
According to reports, the child was found unconscious with serious injuries and was taken to hospital as police began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in Kasore Village, Ewalel Chapchap Ward, Baringo Central, after allegedly sodomizing a four-year-old boy and piercing a sharp stick into the chest.”

Residents said the teenager allegedly called the four-year-old to follow him towards a nearby bush at around 1:45 p.m.
The suspect was later reportedly seen returning to the village alone, raising suspicion among residents who began searching for the child.
He was eventually found unconscious with a sharp stick lodged in his right chest and rushed to hospital before being transferred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), where he was reportedly in critical condition.

Following the assault, the 15-year-old was subsequently arrested and taken to Kabarnet Police Station, where he remains in custody as investigations continue.
Police are expected to establish the events leading to the child’s injuries and investigate the allegations made against the teenager before deciding on the next legal steps.
Meanwhile, the suspect remains in police custody pending further investigations and possible court proceedings.
Residents Express Safety Concerns
The incident has raised concern among residents, some of whom claim the teenager had previously posed a security concern in the area.
Residents alleged that he had on several occasions attacked or strangled young children returning from school.

They also claimed that authorities had previously linked him to another sexual assault allegation earlier this year.
Additionally, some parents said they accompany their children whenever they leave home due to safety concerns, increasing supervision to protect them.
“We no longer send our children to the shop alone. We accompany them for security because we fear they might be attacked or sexually assaulted on the way,” the resident said.
One resident said families were now accompanying children when they leave home because of fears over their safety.
However, authorities have not independently verified the allegations, and police investigations are expected to establish whether they are connected to the current case.
