CBK Reveals Banks With Lowest Interest Rates as of July 2026

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has revealed the commercial banks with the lowest average lending rates in Kenya, with Citibank N.A. Kenya emerging as the cheapest lender in July 2026.
According to CBK’s latest data on commercial banks’ average interest rates, lending rates varied across the banking sector in July, with Citibank recording the lowest average lending rate at 10.59 per cent.
CBK Data Shows Banks With Cheapest Loan Rates in Kenya
Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited recorded the second-lowest average lending rate at 11.55%, and it was followed by Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited, whose average lending rate stood at 11.97%.

Other banks recorded the following average lending rates in July 2026:
- Habib Bank A.G. Zurich – 12.68%
- HFC Limited – 13.04%
- Guardian Bank Limited – 13.47%
- Bank of Baroda (Kenya) Limited – 13.49%
- ABSA Bank Kenya PLC – 13.64%
- I&M Bank Limited – 13.68%
- Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited – 13.88%
- Bank of India – 13.92%
- Development Bank of Kenya Limited – 13.92%
- Prime Bank Limited – 13.94%
- Paramount Bank Limited – 13.97%
- Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited – 14.01%
- Guaranty Trust Bank (K) Ltd – 14.08%
- Victoria Commercial Bank PLC – 14.24%
- Gulf African Bank Limited – 14.32%
- M-Oriental Bank Limited – 14.53%
- NCBA Bank Kenya PLC – 14.64%
- Commercial International Bank (CIB) Kenya Limited – 14.74%
- Ecobank Kenya Limited – 14.75%
- KCB Bank Kenya Limited – 14.79%
- Equity Bank Kenya Limited – 14.83%
- Sidian Bank Limited – 15.02%

CBK also highlighted that the overall average lending rate increased slightly to 14.39 % in July, from 14.37% in June.
However, the bank noted that the overall rate had previously fallen from 14.70% in March to 14.64% in April and 14.49% in May.
Credit Bank Recorded Highest Lending Rate
At the other end, CBK noted that Credit Bank PLC recorded the highest average lending rate in July at 19.06%.
Bank of Africa Kenya followed at 17.49%, while SBM Bank Kenya recorded 17.45%.

Access Bank (Kenya) PLC recorded an average lending rate of 17.33%, followed by Kingdom Bank at 17.00%.
Other banks with lending rates above the overall industry average included Middle East Bank at 16.24%, Family Bank at 15.92%, followed by National Bank of Kenya at 15.86%, DIB Bank Kenya at 15.76%, African Banking Corporation at 15.54%, Premier Bank Kenya at 15.48%, UBA Kenya Bank at 15.24%, Co-operative Bank of Kenya at 15.10%, and Sidian Bank at 15.02%.
Meanwhile, KCB Bank Kenya recorded 14.79%, Equity Bank Kenya 14.83%, Ecobank Kenya 14.75%, and CIB Kenya 14.74%.
Banks recording lending rates below the overall July average of 14.39% included M-Oriental Bank at 14.53%, Gulf African Bank at 14.32%, Victoria Commercial Bank at 14.24%, Guaranty Trust Bank at 14.08%, Consolidated Bank at 14.01% and Paramount Bank at 13.97%.
Additionally Prime Bank recorded lending rate of 13.94%, followed by Development Bank of Kenya and Bank of India at 13.92%, Diamond Trust Bank at 13.88%, I&M Bank at 13.68%, ABSA Bank at 13.64%, Bank of Baroda at 13.49%, Guardian Bank at 13.47%, HFC at 13.04%, Habib Bank at 12.68%, Stanbic Bank at 11.97%, Standard Chartered at 11.55%, and Citibank at 10.59%.
Other banks with relatively high average lending rates included Kingdom Bank at 17.00%, Middle East Bank at 16.24%, and Family Bank at 15.92%.
Furthermore, CBK stated that the deposit rates also varied, with the overall average deposit rate standing at 6.93% in July, up from 6.84% in June.
African Banking Corporation recorded the highest average deposit rate at 10.86%, followed by Credit Bank at 11.15%, Development Bank of Kenya at 9.98%, while Middle East Bank recorded 9.26%.
Citibank, which had the lowest lending rate, recorded an average deposit rate of 4.42% in July.
