Ronald Karauri Clarifies Expressway Incident After Video Showed Men Surrounding His Car

Kasarani Member of Parliament Ronald Karauri has clarified the viral video showing several men surrounding his vehicle on the Nairobi Expressway, saying the incident was not a robbery.

Karauri said he had been travelling in a white vehicle when he was forced to stop on the expressway after one of the car doors developed a problem and could not close properly.

According to the politician, the men seen around the vehicle noticed the problem and stopped to assist him.

“Hello everyone, this is Ronald Karauri. I saw a video on social media about motorcycles starting up on the expressway. I just wanted to clarify that I was actually the one who was on the expressway in the white car,” the MP stated.

Karauri Explains What Happened on Expressway

Karauri said he was sitting next to the passenger when the vehicle developed a mechanical problem as the door could not close while the vehicle was moving, forcing him to stop on the expressway.

The MP added that the people seen in the viral video approached after noticing that he was experiencing difficulties with the vehicle and helped secure the door before he continued with his journey.

“My door wouldn’t close. And apparently, in that car, as long as you’re moving, you can’t close the doors. So I was a little stressed. I had to stop there on the expressway, and when they saw me stop, they came to help me.”

Addressing the speculation surrounding the video, Karauri sought to reassure the public that the people surrounding his vehicle were not criminals.

He described them as ordinary young Nairobians who had stopped to offer assistance after seeing him in difficulty.

“Just to clarify, these aren’t kick-offs. These are ordinary people, young Nairobians. So I think it’s just a message for everyone to calm down.”

Karauri, however, said the circumstances were less dramatic than suggested by the reactions online, maintaining that the group had simply helped him resolve the issue with his vehicle, after which he left, and they continued their journey.

Viral Videos Raise Questions Over Expressway Security

The MP’s clarification comes amid heightened public concern over videos and images circulating on social media purporting to show motorists being targeted by groups of men along the Nairobi Expressway.

The footage triggered widespread discussion online, with some social media users expressing fears over the safety of motorists using the major highway.

Images and videos shared online appeared to show groups of people surrounding vehicles, prompting speculation about possible attacks and robberies.

The reports also sparked questions about security along the Nairobi Expressway, with members of the public calling for authorities to address concerns over the safety of motorists.

One widely circulated video showed several men around a white vehicle, which Karauri claims was his, while another clip appeared to show a red saloon car on the expressway.
