Fresh Details Emerge on Derrick Omollo’s Death After Post-Mortem Examination

Fresh details have emerged on the cause of death of digital creator Derrick Angwenyi Bundi, popularly known as Omollo, following a post-mortem examination conducted after his death on September 1, 2026.

According to reports, the post-mortem revealed that Omollo had suffered serious head and skull injuries, fractures to both femurs, and other physical injuries in the incident in Juja, Kiambu County.

The examination also found dried blood on his face and scalp, bloody discharge from both ears, and no defensive injuries.

“A post mortem examination on digital creator Derrick Omollo has revealed that he suffered serious head and skull injuries, bilateral femur fractures, dried blood on his face and scalp, bloody discharge from both ears and other physical injuries, with no defensive injuries noted,”

Kenyans Question Omollo’s Death After Post-Mortem

The post-mortem findings have since triggered debate on social media, with some Kenyans questioning the account given by Omollo’s friends immediately after the incident.

Some alleged that the friends may have provided misleading information about Omollo being chased by robbers, while others called for them to be arrested or questioned.

One social media user wrote that “his friends started shooting fake stories,” while another suggested that some of those who were with Omollo could have information about what happened.

“I hope the friends are arrested wale walijitokeza kusema ooh he was killed by theives,” wrote Shez_kerry on Instagram.

Other users expressed concern over what they described as the possibility of betrayal by people close to him.

““When you feel in your gut that someone doesn’t like you! DON’T EVER hangout with them! They can kill you! Read or feel people’s energy!”Its Fayee wrote on Instagram.

However, the post-mortem findings alone do not confirm that Omollo was assaulted or that his friends were responsible for his death.

Police Account of Omollo’s Final Moments

According to the initial police account, Derrick Omollo died after falling into an abandoned quarry while fleeing four men who had allegedly confronted him and his colleagues during a content-shooting picnic in Juja.

Omollo, who was 21 years old, was reportedly with four colleagues at Kigwe Farm in Juja South, a remote area known to have abandoned quarries.

The group had reportedly walked from Juja township, where they lived, and arrived at the location at around 4:30pm to shoot content.

At around 6pm, four men allegedly armed with knives confronted the group while they were filming and ordered them to surrender their phones.

Three members of the group reportedly fled into the bushes, with Omollo falling into an unfenced quarry estimated to be about 40 metres deep.

Police reported that he hit a rock during the fall, sustaining fatal head injuries and fractures to both legs.

Police Launch Manhunt for Suspects Involved in His Death

Following the incident, officers from Juja Police Station, including the Sub-County Police Commander, Juja Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers and Crime Scene Investigators, visited the scene.

The officers began investigations and launched a manhunt for the four men who were allegedly armed with knives.

One of the group members, Ann Wanjiku, reportedly lost a Samsung A16 phone during the incident, while Omollo’s iPhone was recovered near his body.

Another colleague, Daniel Mutie Kivuva, reportedly sustained a sprained arm after falling while fleeing from the alleged attackers.

Meanwhile, Omollo’s body is scheduled to leave General Kago Funeral Home in Thika on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

He will be laid to rest on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Marani in Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County.
