Uganda Issues New Entry Update for Travellers as Yellow Fever Rules Change

Travellers heading to Uganda have received an important update on the country’s entry requirements.

According to the notice dated October 5, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has clarified that visitors are currently not required to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate as a condition of entry into Uganda.

The clarification is supported by an official notice issued by the National Citizenship and Immigration Control (NCIC) on October 2, 2026.

According to the NCIC, a yellow fever vaccination certificate is no longer a mandatory requirement for entry into Uganda.

The immigration authority also confirmed that the requirement is not listed on Uganda’s e-visa application portal or on the NCIC website.

“Travellers to Uganda therefore do not need a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate for entry,” the NCIC said in its official notice.

The development provides clarity to travellers who may have previously been required to provide the certificate when entering the country.

UTB Confirms Yellow Fever Entry Requirement Change

The Uganda Tourism Board also issued a statement clarifying the current position and urged travellers and tourism stakeholders to rely on official government channels for the latest entry information.

“We wish to clarify that visitors are not currently required to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate as a condition of entry into Uganda,” UTB said.

The board added that travellers should check official Government of Uganda communication channels for the latest information on immigration and entry requirements.

E-Visa Portal Updated

The NCIC said the yellow fever certificate requirement is not listed on Uganda’s official e-visa application portal. The requirement is also absent from the NCIC website, further confirming the current change in Uganda’s entry procedures.

Travellers planning to visit Uganda can therefore proceed without a yellow fever vaccination certificate as a mandatory entry document, based on the latest official notice.
