NPS Gives Way Forward After Court Lifts Ban on Police Recruitment

The National Police Service (NPS) has called out Kenyan youths to fully participate in police recruitment on November 17, 2025.

This move comes after the High Court of Kenya lifted the ban on police recruitment earlier this following the petition of an activist Matindi, to stop the recruitment of 10,000 police officers.

In a press release issued on November 14, the recruitment is set to proceed on Monday, November 17th, 202,5 as earlier planned.

The exercise will be conducted across all 427 centres, running from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and will be a one-day exercise.

“The recruitment is confirmed to proceed as scheduled on Monday, 17th November 2025, from 8 am until 5 pm at all 427 recruitment centres across the country. It is a one-day exercise,” the notice read.

NPS Recruitment Plan

On October 31st, 2025, NPS announced the recruitment of 10,000 police constables through an advert that made headlines across the media houses.

NPS therefore asks youths who meet the recruitment requirements and are qualified to come out in large numbers and participate.

“On 31st October 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) placed an advertisement in all the leading daily newspapers, announcing the recruitment of 10,000 suitably qualified youths to be trained as police constables,” said NPS.

NPS Request to Youths

According to the service, this is not the chance for youths to get a job, but rather it is a new dawn for Kenya.

All the successful young people will therefore form a new cohort of officers who are expected to drive the service in a positive way.

“This is not just a chance to get a job; rather, it is a new dawn for Kenya. The successful young men and women will form a new cohort of officers expected to drive the positive and reformist agenda currently underway in the Service,” read part notice.

The Service Warns Corrupt Individuals

NPS has also warned about corruption or bribery, stating that anyone who is found involved will face the full force of the law.

“We wish to state categorically and emphatically that anyone who indulges, or attempts to indulge, in bribery or corruption in any form—whether as a giver or a taker—will face the full force of the law,” NPS explained.

Additionally, the recruitment exercise will be free and fair.
