How DCI Detectives Arrested a Fake KDF Brigadier in Nairobi

Parklands detectives have arrested a man posing as a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) brigadier, luring the citizens into joining the military through fake promises and extorting money from unsuspecting youths.

Joshua Mutui Muimi, who upgraded himself to become” KDF brigadier” without ever setting foot on a parade square and was cornered inside his rented Kilimani apartment.

He was found fully dressed in Kenya Air Force regalia.

A meticulous search of the apartment uncovered numerous incriminating items.

Documents with the Ministry of Defence Logo, six fake admission letters with the same serial number, seven finger print forms, and a Yilmaz Defence Industry ammunition manufacturing manual were recovered by the detectives.

Fraudulent Recruitment Scam

Muimi reportedly had been conning hopeful recruits with fake letters to the Recruit Training School (RTS) in Eldoret, taking advantage of their dreams of joining the security industry.

Speaking on the arrest, one of the senior officers at Parklands Police said, “This individual had been deceiving Kenyans for personal gain, exploiting their aspirations to serve in the defence forces. We acted swiftly to ensure he was brought to justice.”

Public Advisory

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has cautioned people against shortcuts in military recruitment.

It’s urging the public to remain vigilant as genuine enlistment is free, fair, and transparent.

Muimi is currently in custody and undergoing processing, pending arraignment in court.
