Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has agreed to pay his ex-wife, Sanja Louise Madzikanda, 5 million U.S dollars for child maintenance.

The former couple has two children, one born in 2018 and another in 2019.

The dispute escalated in court in 2026 when Chivayo filed a case wanting access to his children, alleging that Madzikanda had restricted his access to the minors.

These restrictions allegedly included prohibiting Chivayo from visiting the children in school, receiving updates on their education, and prohibiting him from attending their special events.

Madzikanda’s Conditions

Chivayo said that his former spouse had placed strict conditions on him, demanding to be paid millions of U.S. dollars before he could have access to his children.

According to court documents, Madzikanda was seeking a total payment of 25 million U.S. dollars for maintenance and a spousal upkeep of 40,000 U.S. dollars per month until she remarries.

Madzikanda also petitioned the court to order Chivayo to surrender to her some luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, a Lamborghini, and a Mercedes-Benz Maybach.

Additionally, Madzikanda claimed several residential and commercial properties in Harare

Chivayo Contested Demands In Court

Madzikanda also claimed Chivayo’s high-end apartments in Johannesburg, South Africa.

She also sought to be awarded shares in his companies. Chivayo contested Madzikanda’s demands, saying that she did not contribute to his wealth creation.

He further said that their marriage was not registered and it is his ex-wife who initiated the divorce.

The then court said it did not matter who initiated the divorce in times of contested wealth and estates.

The High Court of Zimbabwe, therefore, ruled that both parties agreed to a settlement outside the court.

5 Million U.S. Dollars To Be Paid To Madzikanda

Madzikanda is to be paid 5 million U.S. dollars in Chivayo’s bank accounts that she will have access to.
