Suspect Arrested With Home Made Pistol in Jamhuri Nairobi

An armed robbery attempt was cut short in Nairobi’s Jamhuri area after police officers intercepted one of the suspects following a pursuit along CITAM Church Road.
According to a statement issued by the National Police Service (NPS), the incident occurred when two suspects riding on a motorcycle allegedly targeted members of the public in the busy area, triggering panic among traders, motorists, and pedestrians.
Police said officers who were on patrol responded swiftly after receiving distress calls from the public.
During the pursuit, the suspects allegedly fired several rounds while attempting to escape.
One Suspect Arrested
The bodaboda passenger was arrested at the scene while the motorcycle rider managed to flee, prompting an ongoing manhunt by police officers.
Police recovered a homemade pistol from the arrested suspect.

Officers also recovered one spent cartridge and a bullet believed to have been discharged during the incident.
According to NPS, members of the public attempted to attack the suspect after his arrest, but officers managed to restore order and secure the exhibits linked to the case.
NPS Say Investigations Are Ongoing
The police said the operation was part of ongoing security patrols and surveillance targeting criminal activities across Nairobi Region.
NPS noted that security officers have intensified operations in identified hotspots as part of efforts to curb violent crimes and protect the residents.
The police further stated that cooperation between law enforcement officers and members of the public has continued to play a key role in responding to criminal incidents within the city.
NPS Urges Members Of The Public To Report Suspicious Activities
Investigations into the attempted robbery are ongoing as police continue to pursue the escaped suspect and other possible members of the criminal network.
The National Police Service urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious activities through the nearest police station or emergency response channels.
Additionally NPS said they are continuing to protect members of the public by doing patrols in areas that have high crime rates.
