NPS Takes 14 Suspects to Court After Deadly Kisumu, Nyahururu Violence

The National Police Service (NPS) has announced that 14 suspects arrested over the recent violence in Kisumu and Nyahururu have been arraigned in court.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 13, the police said the suspects were presented before court to face charges linked to the unrest that occurred in the two towns.
According to the NPS, the 14 suspects were arrested following violent incidents that disrupted public order in Kisumu and Nyahururu.
“The National Police Service informs the public that 14 suspects arrested in connection with the recent violence and unrest in Kisumu and Nyahururu were arraigned in court today, July 13, to face the relevant charges,” the statement read.
On Sunday, July 12, the police reported that one person was killed in Kisumu after rival groups clashed.

Several others were injured, nine motorcycles were set on fire, and a police vehicle was damaged.
In Nyahururu, a group allegedly disrupted a political rally by throwing stones, leaving several people with minor injuries.
NPS Warns Against Violence
The police warned that they will take firm action against anyone involved in violence, hooliganism, or acts that threaten public peace.

“The National Police Service will not tolerate violence, hooliganism, or any disruption of public peace. We remain steadfast in our duty to maintain law and order. Let it be clear: those who choose chaos will be met with the full force of the law,” the NPS said.
The Service also assured Kenyans that officers remain committed to protecting lives, businesses, and property across the country.
“We reaffirm our commitment to serving and protecting all Kenyans, residents, and visitors. Our officers continue to work tirelessly to safeguard lives, property, and businesses across the country,” the statement added.
Public Asked to Report Suspicious Activity
The NPS urged members of the public to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities.
