The Kisumu County Security Committee has vowed to intensify its crackdown on organised criminal gangs following a deadly confrontation in Milimani that left two young men dead.
In a joint statement issued by Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o and County Commissioner Ramadhan Mwabudzo, the committee described the incident as organised criminal activity and warned that those responsible would be pursued, arrested and prosecuted.
The violence occurred on Sunday, July 12, when two organised criminal groups clashed in the city, resulting in the deaths of two people.
“ Yesterday, Sunday, 12 July 2026, two organised criminal groups engaged in a violent confrontation somewhere around the City. Two young men lost their lives as a result of that. Families have been plunged into mourning, and the city has once again been reminded that criminal violence carries consequences not only for its direct victims but for society as a whole,” read part of the statement.
