In recent days, Kenya has witnessed similar incidents where public institutions are attacked by armed youths.
This comes shortly after three people were charged following a June 12, 2026, invasion of All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, where attackers forced their way into a post-budget meeting organized by various Civil Society Organizations in a coordinated attack that was captured by the CCTV.
It was reported that security had been lax, and after failing to fend off, the attackers eventually entered the church.
In an interview at Kiambu County, former cabinet minister and the Jubilee presidential candidate, Fred Matiang’i, called on the current administration to urgently put a stop to what he has described as increased intolerance and political instability, which can have long-term effects on Kenya’s economy.

He cited that this was alarming and worried, as there is a decline in the country’s democracy, “All Saints Cathedral is in the capital city of our country. How can thugs beat people in the capital city of our country? I don’t understand whether our leaders have a sense of shame.”
He further queried how an organization in the heart of the country’s capital would be raided without significant action from authorities, arguing that this could tarnish Kenya’s reputation.
No arrests or motives have been confirmed in relation to the attackers who raided Chemelil Academy.
