DCI Arrests Two Suspects Over Fake Land Ownership Documents & Illegal Transfers

Share

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested two suspects linked to separate land fraud cases involving forged ownership documents and illegal property transfers in Mlolongo and Nairobi’s Westlands area.

According to the DCI, detectives from the Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) launched investigations after complaints were filed by property owners who claimed their land was being targeted using fake documents.

In the first case, detectives arrested Harrison Kabiru Mugo over an alleged scheme involving forged ownership documents for a prime parcel of land in Mlolongo.

Investigators said the case began after a complainant reported that unknown individuals had a fake title deed and were planning to subdivide and sell her land without her permission.

“Investigations established that the suspects had indeed orchestrated a fraudulent transfer of the property using forged documents,” the DCI said.

After investigations were completed, the case file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which approved charges against Harrison Kabiru Mugo and three other suspects who are still on the run.

Fraudulent Land Transfer in Westlands

In a separate case, detectives arrested John Mwaura over the alleged fraudulent transfer of land located in Nairobi’s Westlands area.

The investigations started after the registered owners reported that the property had been transferred to another person using suspected forged documents.

“Following comprehensive investigations, the case file was forwarded to the ODPP, which approved the prosecution of the suspects,” the DCI stated.

However, detectives said efforts to trace the suspects were unsuccessful after they allegedly went into hiding.

This prompted the Milimani Law Courts to issue summons and later warrants of arrest against John Mwaura and another suspect identified as Abdisalan Adan.
