Kipipiri Member of Parliament, Wanjiku Muhia, claimed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers abducted her driver along Thika Road on Saturday, June 21.
In a statement, Muhia said the driver was taken along Thika Road while going to her and his whereabouts remain unknown.
“My personal driver has been arrested along Thika Road while coming to pick me up, and I do not know his whereabouts. The reason for his arrest is yet to be divulged,” she stated.
“DCI, you were evidently seen putting him in a Subaru, taking over my car while three other Subarus followed him to an unknown destination.” She added.

Political Intimidation and Security Concerns for Critics
Muhia stated that even as her government protection was withdrawn four days ago, the arrest of her driver meant that “I am now without security and a driver.”
She stressed that she expected the government to protect her and hold any persons responsible if anything happens to her.
The alleged apprehension comes in the wake of reports on the preceding days that Muhia’s security had been withdrawn due to remarks that she made during campaigns for the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election where she was supporting a Democracy for Citizens Party candidate.
In her rallies, she alleged that the by-election was set to be stolen through rigging and, that statement, prompted calls by politicians to have her apprehended.

Ngoroi Dan added, “Wanjiku Muhia keep giving them a reality check and don’t be cowed by anyone or anything.”
Justus Mwanzia commented, “When you rattle a snake be ready to be bitten,” while Kahura Josh asked, “Hawa umetag ndio government of the day?”
The DCI has not publicly commented on Muhia’s allegations, nor confirmed if the driver was in custody or not, or the reason for his alleged arrest and his where abouts and charges if any brought against the said driver.
The National Police Service has also not officially commented on the matter at the time of publication.
