Detectives Arrest Suspect in Ksh 12 Million Fake Muthaiga Land Title Scheme

DCI arrests Robinson Mbatha Wambua on August 4 over alleged KSh12M Muthaiga Fake Title deal as detectives investigate suspected land fraud in Nairobi.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a man linked to a Muthaiga Fake Title scheme involving a prime property valued at approximately Ksh 12 million in Muthaiga, Nairobi.

The suspect, Robinson Mbatha Wambua, was arrested on August 4 after investigators uncovered an alleged fraudulent scheme targeting a one-acre parcel of land along Mua Park Road in Muthaiga.

“The suspect, Robinson Mbatha Wambua, was arrested today in an intelligence led operation at Jacaranda Hotel in Westlands following investigations into the alleged fraudulent acquisition of a one-acre parcel of land along Mua Park Road in Muthaiga,” the DCI stated.

Initially, detectives from DCI Starehe launched the probe after receiving a complaint over suspicious dealings tied to the property.

They later escalated the matter for deeper investigation.

Investigations Reveal Muthaiga Fake Title Scheme

Subsequently, the Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) took over the case and established that the suspect, through his company Structure Lite Ltd, allegedly procured and presented a fraudulent Certificate of Title for the land.

After completing investigations, detectives forwarded the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which reviewed the evidence and approved charges after establishing a prima facie case.

“The suspect is expected to face charges of Making a False Document, Obtaining Registration by False Pretences, Uttering a False Document, and Giving False Information to a Person Employed in the Public Service,” the DCI stated.

Meanwhile, authorities are processing the suspect ahead of his arraignment in court as the Muthaiga Fake Title case moves to the next legal stage.

DCI Reaffirms Crackdown on Land Fraud

At the same time, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations reaffirmed its commitment to tackling land fraud and protecting property rights across the country.

“The DCI remains unwavering in its commitment to combating land fraud, protecting property rights, and ensuring that individuals who engage in fraudulent land transactions are brought to justice,” the DCI stated.
