The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) condemns a security breach at Naivasha County Referral Hospital after a group of individuals reportedly entered the facility and forcefully removed a deceased patient’s body from the hospital’s custody.

In a press statement issued on May 19 2026, the union said the incident disrupted medical operations and endangered the lives of doctors and other healthcare workers who were on duty at the time.

KMPDU warned that attacks on healthcare facilities threaten the delivery of essential medical services, especially during periods of unrest when hospitals are relied upon to provide emergency care.

The union stated that healthcare facilities should remain protected and neutral spaces where medical personnel can work without any fear or intimidation.

KMPDU Calls For Security In Hospital

According to KMPDU, exposing healthcare workers to violence compromises the continuity of critical care and places both patients and staff at risk.

“We ask a fundamental question: How are we meant to save lives when our own survival is constantly under threat within the workplace?” the union said in the statement.
