EPRA Warns Public Over Fake Recruitment Scam

Share

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has issued a public notice warning Kenyans against a man allegedly posing as it’s employee to fraudulently get money from job seekers.

In the notice dated May 18 2026, EPRA identified the individual as David Kasiva and stated that he is not an employee, agent, or representative of EPRA.

EPRA stated that David has no authority whatsoever to conduct recruitment or offer employment opportunities on its behalf, and they do not identify with him.

According to EPRA, the suspect has allegedly been asking members of the public who are seeking jobs for money.

David took advantage of people looking for jobs while claiming he could secure employment for them at EPRA after they paid a certain amount of money.

EPRA further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with individuals requesting payment in exchange for employment opportunities.

Additionally, EPRA clarified that its recruitment processes are conducted transparently, professionally, and strictly on merit without any charges paid.

The authority reiterated that it does not charge any fees at any stage of its recruitment.

EPRA Warns The Public

“The public is therefore urged to immediately report any suspicious persons or fraudulent recruitment activities to the relevant authorities or contact EPRA,” the statement read.

The warning comes amid growing cases of recruitment scams in Kenya, where fraudsters take advantage of high unemployment rates to con desperate job seekers.

In many instances, scammers impersonate officials from government institutions and state agencies to demand money in exchange for fake job offers.
