FIDA Takes Stand Ahead of Tomorrow’s Judgment in Sharon Otieno Murder Case Involving Obado

The High Court will deliver judgment in the Sharon Otieno murder case on Thursday, 23 July 2026. The session will take place at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi.

The Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA-Kenya) announced the development on Wednesday. The organization addressed media houses, editors, and the public ahead of the judgment.

FIDA-Kenya said it has closely monitored the case from the beginning. It also confirmed that it continues supporting Sharon Otieno’s family as they pursue justice. They highlighted in their letter to the press that;

“FIDA-Kenya is watching brief for Sharon Otieno’s family and has continued to stand with them through the Judicial process as they seek justice for the tragic loss of their daughter and he unborn child.”

The organization expressed confidence in the judicial process. Furthermore, it said the court’s decision should rely only on evidence and the applicable law. FIDA-Kenya added that it will issue another statement after the court delivers its judgment.

How Sharon Otieno Case Drew National Attention After 2018 Killing

Sharon Otieno was abducted on 3rd September 2018, and her lifeless body, alongside that of her unborn child, was found in a thicket near Kodera Forest in Homa Bay County on 4th September 2026.

Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero were charged with her murder. The case has since become one of Kenya’s most closely followed criminal trials.

During the proceedings, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions presented evidence from 42 prosecution witnesses. Prosecutors also relied on SMS messages, WhatsApp communications, and mobile phone call records.

Additionally, witnesses identified as PW9 and PW38 gave evidence linking one accused person to Sharon before her death. Their testimony placed the suspect among people seen with her during the alleged abduction.

The trial stretched over several years before reaching judgment. According to FIDA-Kenya, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted court operations and delayed the proceedings.

Despite the delays, Sharon’s family continued seeking justice through the courts. FIDA-Kenya maintained its support throughout the legal process.

Meanwhile, the organization urged the public to respect the judicial process. It emphasized that the court must determine the case based on the evidence presented.

The judgment is expected to bring a major milestone in a case that has attracted nationwide attention since 2018. Many Kenyans have followed every stage of the proceedings because of the case’s public interest.

As anticipation grows, attention now shifts to the Milimani Law Courts. The High Court’s decision will determine the fate of the three accused persons.

FIDA-Kenya concluded by reaffirming its commitment to supporting Sharon Otieno’s family. It also reiterated its confidence that justice will be guided by the law and the evidence presented before the court.

“As the court prepares to deliver its judgement tomorrow, FIDA-Kenya reaffirms its confidence in the administration of justice and its commitment to support Sharon’s family throughout the process.”
