Fred Machoka Goes After 27 Kenyans for Alleged False Online Posts, Demands Ksh 20 Million

Radio personality Fred Obachi Machoka has sent demand letters to 28 Kenyans for their alleged false posts on X, formerly Twitter, demanding Ksh 20 million from each for defamation and distress caused.

Through Danstan Omari & Associates Advocates, Machoka sent letters dated June 2026 demanding that each of the 27 Kenyans retract alleged false posts posted on the seventh and eighth of June.

Machoka stated that each person accused him of having been bribed Ksh 500,000 by Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai to have his defamation suit against him withdrawn.

Machoka issued demand letters on 8th June 2026 to media houses and individuals like Ramogi FM, Mutembei TV, Kenya Daily Online, Abuga Makori, and Clinton Obonyo.

Legal Proceedings and Defamation Claims Against Machoka

The letter stated that the accusations were “entirely false and misleading” and that the suit, HCCC No. E146 of 2025, “remains active and pending before the Court”.

“My client had not received the money Ksh 500,000 nor had he reached any out-of-court settlement with Alai.” Stated Machoka’s lawyer.

“Your publications, therefore, convey a wholly inaccurate account of the status of the proceedings,” read the letter.

They stated that each post contained photos of Machoka, thereby exposing him to public scrutiny, speculation regarding his character, integrity, and conduct.

The lawyers argue that the publications ridicule Machoka, bring shame and contempt on him, and depict him as “lacking integrity and dishonest in his public dealings.”

“The claims were published without conducting any due diligence or verification whatsoever,” stated Danstan.
