Nairobi County official in charge of urban planning, Patrick Analo Akivaga, who recently made headlines after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) reportedly recovered Ksh 65.3 million from his home, is facing fresh legal troubles after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approved criminal charges against him.
In a statement dated Friday, June 5, 2026, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) announced that Analo is among 37 suspects set to be prosecuted over the collapse of Manzil Towers in South C, Nairobi, which collapsed on January 2, 2026.
“Following an independent and thorough analysis of the evidence contained in the inquiry file, the DPP has determined that there is sufficient evidence and a realistic prospect of conviction to warrant the prosecution of several suspects connected to the incident,” read part of the statement.
Charges Against Patrick Analo
According to the DPP, Analo will face charges of abuse of office and neglect of official duty.
The ODPP said investigations found evidence linking him to the approval, oversight and regulatory processes connected to the construction project before the building collapsed.

The suspects face a range of offences, including manslaughter, abuse of office, neglect of official duty, making false documents, uttering false documents, and commencing a project without an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) licence.
Among those facing charges related to false documents are architect Gideon Chege Mwangi, Abdishakur Muse Mohamed, and Yussuf Mohamed Yussuf.
Others have been accused of starting the project without obtaining the required environmental licence.
DPP Defends Decision
The ODPP said the decision to charge the suspects was made after an independent review of the evidence gathered by investigators.
It added that the move was in line with the Constitution, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Act and the office’s charging guidelines.
The accused persons are expected to be arraigned in court to answer to the charges.
The ODPP also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accountability and protecting the public interest whenever criminal wrongdoing is established through investigations.
