HFCB Announces New Board Director After Dorcas Muthoni’s Retirement

HFCB Limited has appointed Robert Ochieng’ Agonda Ochola as a Non-Executive Director, effective July 9, 2026, following the retirement of board member Dr Dorcas Gachari Muthoni.

In a notice dated July 10, the company said Robert Ochola joins the board with nearly three decades of leadership experience spanning financial services, telecommunications, digital innovation, and development finance across Africa and the Middle East.

“The Board of Directors of HFCB Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Ochieng’ Agonda Ochola as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 9th July 2026,” read part of the notice.

HFCB Appoints AfricaNenda CEO Dr Robert Ochola to Its Board

According to HFCB, Robert Ochola has more than 29 years of experience as an executive, strategist, and board leader.

He currently serves as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AfricaNenda, a pan-African organisation focused on accelerating the development of instant and inclusive payment systems across the continent.

Before joining AfricaNenda, he held several senior leadership positions, including Director of Strategy and Innovation at Afreximbank, Head of Strategy at Safaricom, and Director of Strategy, Research, and Innovation at KCB Bank Group.

The company said his appointment brings extensive expertise in financial services strategy, corporate governance, digital transformation, and stakeholder engagement.

HFCB further noted that Robert Ochola has a proven track record of driving sustainable impact across Africa.

He holds engineering degrees from Imperial College London, an MBA from Warwick Business School, and a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cape Town.

In addition, Robert has completed executive education programmes at INSEAD and Harvard Business School.

Dorcas Muthoni Retires From Board

The appointment follows the retirement of Dr Dorcas Gachari Muthoni, who stepped down during HFCB’s Annual General Meeting held on May 26, 2026.

According to the company, Muthoni did not present herself for re-election after completing her tenure on the board.

“The Board of HFCB Limited wishes to notify that Dr. Dorcas Gachari Muthoni retired during the Annual General Meeting held on 26th May 2026 and did not offer herself for re-election,” HFCB stated.

However, HFCB expressed appreciation for her contribution to the company, thanking her for her dedication, service, and stewardship during her time as a director.

“The Board of Directors deeply appreciates the dedication, service and stewardship of Dr. Dorcas Muthoni, and wishes her every success in her future endeavours,” the statement added.
