KMA Breaks Silence on Grounded M.V. Dan at Nyali Beach

Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) has announced that vessel M.V. DAN has not left Kenyan waters and remains beached at the coast of Nyali Beach.

The inspection has not revealed any signs of structural failure or any leaks.

In a revised update on June 23, 2026, KMA stated it continues to monitor the situation in conjunction with other government agencies to promote safe navigation, safeguard the marine environment, and the well-being of those onboard.

In the course of the Authority’s intervening activities, KMA also carried out an inspection of the vessel to determine the condition of its structure and the risk it posed to the marine environment.

The assessment concluded that the hull structure of the vessel appears sound, with no structural failure or leaks.
