Kenya Met Lists Areas Set to Receive Rainfall Over the Next Five Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has listed areas expected to receive continued rainfall over the next five days across several parts of the country.

According to a forecast dated May 14, 2026, rainfall will persist in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, parts of the Rift Valley, the Coast, and Northwestern Kenya.

Kenya Met also warned that heavy rainfall events may occur in selected areas within these regions.

“Heavy rainfall events may occur in some parts of Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley,” read part of the forecast.

Kenya Met Predicts Continued Rainfall Over the Next Five Days

According to the weatherman, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley will experience chances of rain in the morning, followed by showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon across several places.

During the Night, conditions are expected to remain generally wet, with showers over a few areas throughout the period.

Maximum temperatures in these regions are expected to range between 27°C and 29°C, while minimum temperatures will drop to around 10°C to 13°C.

Kenya Met also stated that in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu, Meru, and surrounding counties, cloudy mornings are expected to give way to sunny intervals.

Additionally, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely over a few areas and Night conditions will vary between showers and partly cloudy skies.

Temperatures will range between 27°C and 29°C during the day and drop to as low as 10°C at night.

Hot and Dry Conditions Expected in North-Eastern Kenya

North-eastern counties, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, are expected to remain largely hot and dry.

The areas will experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy skies at night throughout the five-day period.

Temperatures will remain high, with maximums reaching up to 38°C and minimums averaging between 18°C and 20°C.

However, in Turkana and Samburu counties, KMD noted that mornings will experience sunny intervals with isolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon over a few places.

Night conditions will vary between partly cloudy skies and occasional light showers.

Meanwhile, in these areas, the maximum temperatures are expected to reach up to 36°C, while minimum temperatures will range between 12°C and 14°C.

Along the Coast, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, showers are expected in the morning over a few places, with occasional showers continuing in the afternoon.

At night, conditions will remain partly cloudy with scattered showers in some areas, especially earlier in the forecast period.

Temperatures along the Coast will remain warm and humid, with highs of up to 34°C and lows around 23°C to 25°C.
