Kenya Met Lists Counties Set to Receive Rain Over the Next Five Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met ) has issued a five-day weather forecast indicating that most parts of the country will remain generally dry, as several regions receive occasional rainfall between June 26 and June 30.
In a forecast dated June 26, Kenya Met said occasional rainfall is expected over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley.
“ Most parts of the country are likely to be generally dry. However, occasional rainfall is likely over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley,” read part of the forecast.
The department added that intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected in sections of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley, and Northeastern Kenya.
Kenya Met Five-Day Forecast: Regions Expected to Receive Rainfall
According to the weatherman, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley are expected to experience the most significant rainfall during the forecast period.
The affected counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
Kenya Met said the region is likely to experience morning showers on Friday before sunny intervals prevail on subsequent mornings.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected on most days, while light showers are likely during the night.
During the day, temperatures in the region are expected to range between 29°C and 31°C, with minimum temperatures of between 9°C and 11°C.
Nairobi and Central Kenya to Experience Afternoon Showers
Kenya Met also noted that Nairobi and other counties in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, will experience cloudy mornings that will gradually break into sunny intervals.
During the afternoon, showers are set to be experienced over a few places throughout the five days, while isolated night showers are expected between Saturday and Tuesday.
Maximum temperatures will range between 25°C and 27°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to fall to between 5°C and 6°C.
Dry Weather to Dominate Other Parts of the Country
Meanwhile, KMD indicated that North-eastern Kenya, covering Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, will remain largely dry, with sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.
Temperatures in the region are expected to peak at between 34°C and 36°C, while minimum temperatures will range between 14°C and 15°C.
Similarly, the South-eastern Lowlands, comprising Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and the inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to experience predominantly sunny weather after cloudy conditions on Friday morning.

Daytime temperatures will range between 28°C and 30°C.
Elsewhere, in the coastal regions covering Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and the Tana Delta, isolated morning showers are expected on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday, while sunny conditions will prevail during most afternoons.
Temperatures are expected to remain stable, with daytime highs of around 30°C and nighttime temperatures ranging between 21°C and 23°C.
Meanwhile, North-western Kenya, including Turkana and Samburu counties, is expected to remain largely sunny, although a few areas could receive showers on Saturday.
The region will continue to record some of the country’s highest temperatures, reaching up to 36°C during the day.
