Kenya Power Says Sorry, Thanks Kenyans for Patience as Power Is Restored

UPDATE: Kenya Power has announced that electricity supply has been fully restored to all customers who were affected by the outage.

In a notice at 6:22 am on Thursday, July 30, the company said power was restored by 2:00 a.m. and thanked customers for their patience and support as its teams worked to restore normal service.

“We are pleased to report that power supply was fully restored to all affected customers by 2:00 am today. We truly appreciate your patience and support as our teams worked to restore service,” reads the notice.

Kenya Power has assured customers that electricity supply will be restored as soon as possible following a widespread power outage that plunged several parts of the country into darkness on Wednesday night.

In a customer alert issued at 9:05 p.m. on July 29, the utility company said the outage had affected customers in Nairobi, the Coast region, Mt. Kenya and parts of the Central Rift.

However, Kenya Power said parts of the North Rift and Western regions remained on electricity supply.

“Our technical teams are working to restore supply to the affected areas as quickly as possible,” the company said.

Power Restoration

While the utility did not provide a specific timeline for when electricity would be fully restored, it assured customers that engineers were working to resolve the disruption with urgency.

Kenya Power also apologized for the inconvenience caused by the outage and thanked customers for their patience as restoration efforts continued.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience as restoration efforts continue,” the company said.

The cause of the widespread outage had not been disclosed by the time of publication.

Although Kenya Power did not disclose the cause of the power outage, they have assured Kenyans that they are working on ensuring power is back on.

Unlike other power blackouts that are normally scheduled by KPLC, this one was not scheduled but it was abrupt causing an inconvenience to many Kenyans across the country.

Despite a large part of the country being affected, Kenya Power noted that some areas in the North Rift and Western regions remain on steady power supply.

The outage disrupted businesses, transport services and households in several parts of the country, with many Kenyans taking to social media to report the sudden loss of electricity and seek updates on when power would be restored.
