KNCHR Announces Commission Secretary Job, Apply Before Deadline

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) is accepting applications for the position of Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, with the deadline set for September 22, 2026.

According to the job advertisement, the position is based in Nairobi and requires occasional travel. The successful candidate will serve a five-year term, which may be renewed once.

The board is seeking a Kenyan citizen who meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution, holds a degree from a university recognised in Kenya, and has at least 10 years of demonstrated management-level experience.

There are other minimum qualifications indicated by the Commission for candidates to follow:

  1. A master’s degree in a relevant field.
  2. Demonstrable experience in human rights, governance, public administration, management, finance, political science, or a related field.
  3. At least five years of experience at senior management level, preferably in a public institute or comparable organization.
  4. A senior leadership course of not less than six weeks from a recognized institution.

KNCHR stated that the successful applicant will report to the Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights.

The Commission indicated that the salary and benefits attached to the position will be determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Application Deadline

The deadline for applications is set at 5:00 p.m. EAT on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

“Applications should be addressed to the Chairperson, Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and submitted on or before Tuesday, 22nd September at 5: 00p.m EAT,” KNCHR Noted.

KNCHR is a constitutional commission that is established under Article 59 of the Constitution of Kenya and is operating under the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights Act.
