KRA Announces Temporary eTIMS, TIMS Shutdown Affecting All Taxpayers

The Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) and Tax Invoice Management System (TIMS) have been scheduled for maintenance by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) for 20 hours starting Wednesday evening.
According to the tax body, the maintenance will be conducted from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. and conclude on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
During this period, both eTIMS and TIMS services will be unavailable to all users.In a public notice issued to stakeholders, KRA urged taxpayers and businesses to plan their activities accordingly to avoid disruptions to tax-related transactions during the scheduled downtime.
“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of eTIMS & TIMS from Wednesday 22nd July, 2026, 6:00 PM to Thursday 23rd July, 2026, 2:00 PM. We regret any inconvenience caused,” KRA stated.
All eTIMS and TIMS Users Affected
The notice indicates that the maintenance exercise will affect all eTIMS and TIMS users across the country.

KRA specified that the affected systems are eTIMS and TIMS, meaning taxpayers who rely on the platforms for electronic invoicing, invoice validation, and tax compliance services will be unable to access them throughout the 20-hour maintenance window.
“During this period, eTIMS & TIMS will be unavailable. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” the authority said.
Businesses that issue electronic tax invoices, accountants, tax agents, and other users have been advised to complete any urgent transactions before the maintenance begins on Wednesday evening.
Who is KRA and What Does It Do?
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is the government agency established under the Kenya Revenue Authority Act of 1995 to assess, collect, account for, and enforce payment of taxes and revenues on behalf of the Government of Kenya.

Its core mandate includes collecting income tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), customs duties, excise duty, and other government revenues that finance public services and national development.

Among its digital initiatives are eTIMS (Electronic Tax Invoice Management System) and TIMS (Tax Invoice Management System), which enable businesses to generate compliant electronic tax invoices and help improve transparency and VAT administration.
