Matatu Overturns With Passengers on Board in Night Accident

A tragic road accident involving an overturned 32-seater matatu occurred along Enterprise Road in Nairobi’s Industrial Area, opposite Nairobi Prison, on Wednesday night.
The incident left several people injured, prompting an emergency response.
Kenya Red Cross emergency response teams rushed to the scene and immediately began providing first aid to the injured.
The teams also launched evacuation efforts to ensure those affected received urgent medical attention.

“A mass casualty road traffic incident involving an overturned PSV has occurred along Enterprise Road in Industrial Area, opposite Nairobi Prison. Kenya Red Cross emergency response teams are on the scene providing first aid and evacuation support to those affected,” Kenya Red Cross.
The exact number of those affected has not yet been determined although those injured were attended to.

Road accidents in public vehicles continue to raise concerns within Nairobi and across the country with authorities continuing to remind drivers to observe traffic rules and drive carefully.
Police are to launch investigations into the matter in order to determine the cause of the accident.

This accident also comes at a time when the NTSA has rolled out a new digital traffic enforcement which is a framework aimed at improving compliance with the road safety laws and regulations.
The system by NTSA is aimed at improving accountability and ensuring that traffic rules are followed by motorists failure to which fines will be paid.
