“Mr Press Conference!” Kenyans Roast Ndindi Nyoro for Posting Long Statements Instead of Voting on Finance Bill 2026

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has come under heavy fire from Kenyans online after missing the parliamentary vote on the Finance Bill 2026 and later issuing a detailed explanation defending his absence.
Nyoro defended his absence by explaining that he travelled out of the country for what he described as unavoidable international engagements.
He insisted that the timing of the trip could not be changed and maintained that his absence should not be interpreted as negligence or disengagement from parliamentary duties.
“Wadosi Wakenya Wote, I come in Peace and humility. The vote for the Finance Bill happened yesterday; disappointingly, I was not in Parliament due to unavoidable international engagements, and no explanation should absolve the blame,” Nyoro said.
He further acknowledged public scrutiny over his absence and emphasized that feedback from Kenyans continues to shape his leadership approach and parliamentary engagement.

Nyoro also defended his legislative record, arguing that he has remained active in debates on key financial matters affecting the country.
He highlighted his participation in committee work and floor debates, insisting that oversight extends beyond physical presence during votes.
“We have always been available and forthright in debating both the Appropriations Bill and the Finance Bill on the committee and on the floor of the house as a commitment to giving a different and alternative view,” he said.
“We have taken it upon ourselves to tabulate, collate and analyse Economic related information which we always quietly and gladly share with leaders both in Parliament and outside for better oversight and alternative viewpoints,” he added further.

Despite his explanation, criticism dominated online conversations, with many Kenyans questioning his absence during a critical national vote and accusing him of inconsistency in leadership priorities.
One user, “TERRY™,” argued that he missed one of the most important parliamentary decisions and should have prioritized attendance.
“You mean you missed one of the most crucial parliamentary event for a session you could have rescheduled? Absent Means YES!,” he stated.
Another user expressed frustration over what they described as political indecisiveness,
“You’re always sitting on the Fence when Kenyans need you the most! You’re a coward!,” FRANK_THEBRAND wrote.
A different critic further intensified the debate by pointing to what they described as a recurring pattern of missed key national votes, arguing that Ndindi Nyoro has repeatedly failed to show up during major parliamentary moments, including other critical decisions in previous sessions, raising questions about his consistency in handling matters of national importance.
“There is a pattern! Finance bill 2024 – You voted YES! Finance bill 2025 – African was not your business. Gachagua’s Impeachment – Africa was not your business. Finance bill 2026 – Africa was not your business!,” Ngugi Wanjiru added.
