Buruklyn Boyz House And Cars Vandalized Amid Mystery Attack

A new set of threats has arisen for drill artists in Kenya, with reports that the residence of Buruklyn Boyz has been attacked and their cars vandalised in a video posted online.

From the footage uploaded online, there appears to be massive destruction of the Nairobi drill artists’ property, with windscreens of cars destroyed, windows broken in the house, along with stones strewn everywhere in the compound following the alleged attack on the vehicles.

At the time of writing, the perpetrators of the act and the reason behind it are unknown.

No report of this attack has come out officially from any party involved.

Likewise, there is no proof linking the lyrical beef between Buruklyn Boyz and rapper Toxic Lyrikali to the destruction of the house and the vehicles.

Recent Rap Feud Takes Centre Stage In Kenyan Hip Hop

The attacks come amid reports of a rivalry between Buruklyn Boyz and Toxic Lyrikali that has kept Buruklyn Boyz at the centre of the most controversial and exciting rap feud in Kenyan hip hop.

The lyrical war between the two has become the highlight of the rap scene in recent times, rekindling interest in Kenyan drill rap.

Before the feud, Buruklyn Boyz were said to have slowly disappeared from the limelight after enjoying success in their earlier songs released some years back.

But with their public feud with Toxic Lyrikali, people’s interest has returned to them, with each diss song receiving more than 300,000 views on YouTube.

While there have been many other challenges to Toxic Lyrikali by several rappers before, none managed to grab as much attention as Buruklyn Boyz did.

Both AJAY and Mr. Right remain talented artists individually and collectively, even though many believed their momentum had slowed.

Through the rap battle, however, Buruklyn Boyz once again became part of mainstream conversations within Kenya’s music industry.

The response of Toxic Lyrikali ensured that the two were given equal footing on the competitive arena.

Career Revival And Increased Audience Of Beef

Buruklyn Boyz managed to turn this verbal exchange into a promotional activity.

In addition to putting out diss tracks, the artists also came up with music videos for the songs and used the hype created from this beef to get back to fame.

The case is seen to be similar to some of the international rap beefs, where public verbal battles lead to commercial success when the artists manage to make good use of the increased popularity.

According to this view, the real winner in hip hop beefs is not always the artist who has more street credentials but the one who manages to make his career out of this publicity.

While many people still see Toxic Lyrikali as one of the top rappers in Kenya, the fans believe that Buruklyn Boyz managed to revive their careers thanks to this beef.

Rivalry Moves beyond Music

The rivalry between the Buruklyn Boyz from Buru Buru and Kayole’s Toxic Lyrikali, which was originally triggered by diss tracks like Buruklyn Boyz’ “Stima” and Toxic’s “Dumpsite,” had moved beyond the world of music.

It is claimed that the origin of the feud was over artistic differences, where Toxic expressed doubts about the authenticity of the Buruklyn Boyz and, on the other hand, the duo responded through the creation of songs that depict the artist trying to find his feet within the genre of drill.

As the issue gained more publicity, it turned into a bigger discussion involving the pride in the locality, where fans of the two artists came from various parts of Nairobi to defend their idols.

The more popular the songs became, the more viral videos were being shared online regarding the clashes between people who were suspected of backing the two factions, worrying about the potential for the rivalry to escalate into physical violence.

Such incidents led to singers and personalities calling for peace, fearing that the conflict could hurt Kenya’s music industry and detract from the successes of its artists.
