Authorities are investigating the mysterious death of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier whose body was discovered inside her locked house in Juja, Kiambu County, under unclear circumstances.
The 44-year-old soldier, Elizabeth Wanjiru, who was attached to the Department of Defence headquarters, was found dead after relatives forced entry into her home when she failed to respond to repeated calls.
Her body was found lying on a sofa in a pool of blood, with visible signs suggesting electrocution on her face.
The door had been locked from the inside, deepening the mystery surrounding her death.
Police and military officers have since launched a joint investigation to establish what happened.
Her body was moved to the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital, Mashujaa Funeral Home, where a postmortem will be conducted.

In a separate incident in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, police are investigating a case in which a 29-year-old woman, Sylivia Atieno, was stabbed during a violent altercation.
Reports indicate she sustained a stab wound to the neck during a fight and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident happened at Shauriyako estate, where the deceased was putting up a makeshift stall.
According to a police report, the two women disagreed over the stall, which was being constructed by the deceased.
Members of the public reportedly beat the attacker before being rescued by police. She is currently hospitalized under police guard and is expected to face murder charges once discharged.

In Sagana, Kirinyaga County, police are investigating the killing of a 77-year-old woman, Margret Wambui Nyoike, whose body was discovered inside her house under suspicious circumstances.
According to police reports, the door to her home was open when the body was found lying on the floor with visible signs of strangulation.
A scarf was tightly tied around her neck, and a footprint was seen on her chest.
The elderly woman, who is said to have lived alone, had no family members immediately present at the scene.
Her body was moved to the mortuary as investigations into the murder continue.
Police have urged the public to report conflicts early to prevent escalation into fatal outcomes.
