Notorious Armed Suspect Nabbed in Eastleigh as Police Recover Homemade Gun and Knife

A notorious armed suspect landed in police custody in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on Monday, June 8, 2026, after officers launched a swift operation that began in Majengo and ended with the recovery of a homemade firearm and a knife.

To begin with, police officers on routine patrol along Lamu Road in the Majengo area spotted a suspect identified by the aliases “Kanyundo” and “Rashid Abdalla.”

Immediately, the suspect took off after noticing the officers, prompting police to act without delay.

Reports indicate that the suspect attempted to escape towards the California area.

However, officers maintained close pursuit and continued tracking him through different parts of Nairobi.

As the chase intensified, the trail led officers directly into Eastleigh, where the suspect tried to blend into the busy environment.

Officers Arrest Suspect at Madina Mall Roundabout, Eastleigh

Eventually, officers cornered and arrested the suspect at the Madina Mall Roundabout in Eastleigh.

The operation ended successfully without any reported injuries as officers secured the area and took full control of the situation.

After the arrest, officers immediately searched the suspect in Eastleigh.

Consequently, they recovered a homemade firearm and a knife, which they secured as exhibits for further investigation.

Investigations Link Suspect to Previous Crimes

Preliminary investigations linked the suspect to criminal activities in the Shauri Moyo area.

Authorities associated him with past incidents involving stabbing cases and phone snatching, crimes that previously raised insecurity concerns among residents.

Following the arrest, police took the suspect into custody and prepared to arraign him in court on relevant charges as investigations continued to uncover possible wider criminal links.

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Security

In response to the arrest, the National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order through proactive patrols, intelligence gathering, and rapid response operations, especially in high-risk areas such as Eastleigh.

Additionally, the service stressed the importance of public cooperation in fighting crime. It stated:

“Maintaining law and order requires constant vigilance, coordinated security operations, and decisive action against individuals involved in criminal activities,” NPS stated.

“Criminals who prey on innocent members of the public pose a significant threat to community safety and must be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice,” it further emphasized.

Finally, authorities urged members of the public to report suspicious activities activities through the nearest police station, via the emergency numbers 999, 911, or through the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free line 0800 722 203 and WhatsApp number 0709 570 000.
