Saba Saba Day: IG Kanja on the Ground as Police Monitor Security in Nairobi and Githurai

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja visited Muthurwa in Nairobi and Githurai 45 in Kiambu on Tuesday, July 7, to assess the security situation during the Saba Saba Day demonstrations.
Kanja was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli as they monitored the situation in the two busy locations.
During the visit, Kanja met National Police Service officers and praised them for their dedication and professionalism in maintaining law and order.
He encouraged the officers to continue serving the public with commitment as they carried out their duties during the Saba Saba Day operations.
“I commend National Police Service officers for their unwavering commitment and utmost professionalism in maintaining law and order,” Kanja said.

Residents and Traders Assured of Security after Saba Saba Commemoration
The Inspector General also engaged residents and traders at Muthurwa Market and Githurai 45.
He assured them that security agencies remained alert and that the country was safe and secure despite the day’s activities.
Kanja urged members of the public to remain peaceful and cooperate with police officers to help maintain order.
“The country is safe and secure. I urge everyone to remain peaceful and cooperate fully with the police.”

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Public Safety
Speaking to journalists at Muthurwa, Kanja thanked the media for working closely with the police in sharing information with the public.
He said the National Police Service remains committed to protecting all Kenyans, residents, and visitors.
“The National Police Service remains steadfast, resolute, and fully committed to serving and protecting all Kenyans, residents, and visitors alike.”
Also present during the visit were National Police Service Director of Corporate Communications and Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, Personal Assistant to the Inspector General James Murithi, and other senior police officers.
