Safaricom, through its Foundations, has launched “Capture the Good,” a photography and videography challenge for all talented creators to showcase their work by highlighting impactful community projects in education, health, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation in the country.
The multi-stage challenge is open for entries at https://capturethegood.safaricom.co.ke/ until May 30, 2026.
The participants have 250 projects to choose from, with each expected to tour, create content, and showcase its impact on the community.
The Challenge is in partnership with the Photographers Association of Kenya (PAK), the Photojournalists Association of Kenya (PJAK), with Vivo as the mobile photography partner.
Safaricom CEO Statement
“We live in a visual world, often enhanced by a photo or a video, building believability, relatability and connections, while allowing the rest of society to live through these stories.
These platforms enable us to share stories of transformation, while humanizing the spaces where we serve our communities.
We’re now looking to see these stories of impact through their lens” said Peter Ndegwa, Group Chief Executive Officer, Safaricom.

Campaign Inspiration
The campaign is Inspired by the foundation’s need to tell stories of impact differently, through the communities, leveraging a growing youthful movement invested in sharing and inviting audiences into their experiences.
Upon submission, a judging panel will review the content for a shortlist of 90 regional winners that will attend a masterclass, where they get a chance to refine and resubmit their work.
The second round of judging will culminate in 18 national winners whose work will appear on the Capture the Good website.
Awards and Recognition
The campaign will see the creators’ work subjected to public voting, where 3 winners from each category will be awarded as the photographer and videographer of the Year with a cash prize of Ksh 1 million each, Ksh 750,000 for second place, and Ksh 500,000 for third place.
Additional rewards total to Ksh 20.4 Million in cash prizes, airtime, vouchers and merchandise with data offers to aid in the submission of work.
The Challenge runs until August 14, 2026, with the crowning of winners and an exhibition of their works.
