Sasini Appoints Catherine Bariu as New Company Secretary

Sasini PLC has announced the appointment of Catherine Kawira Bariu as its new Company Secretary, effective May 28, 2026, following the resignation of Millicent Ngetich.
In a public announcement issued by the Board of Directors on Tuesday June 9, 2026, in accordance with the provisions of the Capital Markets Act and its regulations, the company said the appointment will also extend to its subsidiaries.
The board thanked the outgoing company secretary for her contribution to the organization while expressing confidence in the incoming office holder’s ability to steer the company’s governance and compliance agenda.
“The Board has appointed Catherine Kawira Bariu as Company Secretary of the Company and its subsidiaries with effect from 28th May 2026, following the resignation of Millicent Ngetich. On behalf of the Board, we thank Ngetich for her service and wish her well in her future endeavors,” the statement read.
Experienced Governance Professional
Sasini described Bariu as an accomplished Certified Secretary and Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with more than a decade of experience in organizational compliance, corporate governance and legal affairs.
“Bariu is an accomplished Certified Secretary and Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 10 years’ experience in driving organizational compliance, corporate governance, and legal affairs,” the company stated.
The agribusiness firm noted that before joining Image Registrars Limited, Bariu served as a legal researcher with the Judiciary, where she played a key role in supporting judicial decision-making through legal analysis, governance oversight, performance monitoring and institutional compliance frameworks.
“Prior to joining Image Registrars Limited, she served as a Legal-researcher with the Judiciary, where she supported high-level judicial decision-making through legal analysis, governance oversight, performance-monitoring and institutional compliance frameworks,” Sasini said.

Strong Academic and Professional Credentials
Bariu brings to the position an extensive academic background and professional qualifications that have prepared her for leadership roles in governance and regulatory compliance.
According to the announcement, she holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate Governance from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Kenyatta University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
She also possesses a Public Secretary Certification.
“She holds a Masters of Laws (LLM) on Corporate Governance from The University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Laws from Kenyatta University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and a Public Secretary Certification,” Sasini confirmed.
The company further noted that Bariu is a registered member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries and the Law Society of Kenya.

Extensive Regulatory Experience
Beyond her legal and governance expertise, Bariu has accumulated substantial experience advising corporate clients on statutory and regulatory compliance matters.
“Catherine has previously provided Company Secretarial services to corporate clients within private practice, advising on statutory and regulatory compliance, supporting Board and Committee processes, drafting governance policies and maintaining statutory records and reporting systems,” the notice read.
She also previously served at the Capital Markets Authority within the Market Operations Directorate, where she was involved in risk-based supervision, regulatory inspections and compliance assessments.
“She has also served at the Capital Market Authority in the Market Operations Directorate, where she participated in risk-based supervision, regulatory inspections and compliance assessments,” Sasini concluded.
