SHA Issues Clarification on E-Contracting Platform Testing

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has informed all healthcare facilities that the E-Contracting system currently in use is for trial purposes only and should not be regarded as a formal contract.

In a notice dated July 25, 2026, SHA announced that the online platform was launched “purely in a trial capacity” and that facilities could then examine the system.

As per the SHA, the test intends to verify the system and fix any technical and operational problems.

The Authority mentioned that the test will play a significant part in full operation before the deployment of the platform.

No legal obligation will be created due to participation.

SHA Digital Service Implementation and E-Contracting Process

SHA clarified that participation in the test shall not be construed as any contracting, empaneling, or execution of any contract with the Authority.

“Participating in this testing exercise does not constitute contracting, empanelment, or the execution of any contractual agreement with the authority.” The notice stated.

The Authority directed healthcare facilities to continue testing as directed and wait to hear from them regarding the official Launch.

According to SHA, they will send out a formal notice of completion of testing, providing the timelines and process for formal registration and inclusion in the E-Contracting process.

“Upon successful completion of the testing phase, the authority will issue a formal communication advising the health facility.” The board stated

Implementation of New Systems and E-contracting for Healthcare Facilities

E- contracting for healthcare providers or facilities in Kenya, a process that is managed using the online platform by the Social Health Authority.

Requirements are a valid KMPDC registration number, an administrator ID, and an accredited Health Management Information System.

For any further clarification, SHA instructed the facilities to contact providermanagement@sha.go.ke.

SHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mercy Mwangangi signed the notice to open the office.

The Executive announced ownership of the initiative and thanked facilities members for their co-operation as the Authority progresses to implement the digital service.
