Two suspected drug dealers have been arrested in Mombasa County after detectives recovered narcotic drugs valued at approximately Ksh 2.19 million during a raid conducted at Kwa Hola Village.
According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the operation was carried out by officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Mombasa, working together with Mombasa County officers.
The detectives reportedly acted on credible intelligence before they entered a rented house, which is believed to have been operating as a drug distribution point within the area.
During the operation, officers arrested Mwanaisha Abdalla Gona, who is 42 years old, together with his alleged accomplice, Nancy Njeri, who is 37 years.
DCI said the search inside the house uncovered a large quantity of narcotics well packaged and prepared for distribution.
Among the items recovered were 902 rolls of cannabis sativa wrapped in khaki papers, which weighed approximately 300 kilograms.
Detectives also recovered three kilograms of skunk that had been packed in small sachets, as well as 300 grammes of heroin.

The detectives further estimated the street value of the recovered drugs at Ksh2.19 million.
A digital weighing scale and clear polythene packaging materials were also recovered, which detectives believe were being used in the packaging and distribution of the narcotics.
According to the DCI, the discovery pointed to what detectives suspect was a well-organized narcotics distribution network.
This operates within the residential area without the knowledge of many residents, as suspected by DCI.

After the raid, the two suspects were escorted to Chaani Police Station, where they are currently being processed ahead of their arraignment in court.
The recovered narcotics have therefore been secured and kept as exhibits even as investigations continue.
The DCI in the statement reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and dismantling criminal networks involved in the distribution of narcotics across the country.
DCI noted that the operations that target drug traffickers will continue as part of ongoing efforts to curb the spread of illegal drugs in the country.
