Who Was Lucy “Lulu” Muteke? Inside Wicknell Chivayo’s Wife’s Life, Career and Family

Lucy “Lulu” Muteke was the wife of the late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

She was a Zimbabwean personal shopper, model, and social media personality who became widely known after her relationship with Chivayo became public in late 2024.

Before becoming Chivayo’s wife, Muteke worked as a personal shopper, helping clients source fashion, accessories, and other high-end lifestyle products. She was also associated with modelling and social media work.

Unlike Chivayo, who frequently shared details of his business activities and personal life online, his wife generally maintained a lower public profile.

Lucy Muteke Age, Early Life And Career

Lucy Muteke was reportedly born on May 27, 1991, which would have made her 35 years old in 2026.

However, publicly available reports provide limited information about her early life.

Reports state that she studied at Watershed College in Zimbabwe, although they do not provide detailed information about her higher education.

She is also described as having grown up in a well-off family in Marondera, where her family was said to own a farm.

Meanwhile, Muteke built her career in the luxury retail and fashion space, working as a personal shopper for private clients.

She sourced fashion, accessories and other lifestyle products for clients looking for exclusive items.

Besides, she was also associated with modelling and social media work, where she is reported to have modelled for brands including Glow Envy Skincare.

How Lucy Muteke and Chivayo’s Relationship Became Public

Lucy Muteke and Chivayo’s relationship became public in December 2024.

This came after Chivayo initially shared photographs of a woman whose face was concealed while introducing her as his girlfriend.

The couple’s holiday at Matetsi Victoria Falls later generated further interest after personalised bottles bearing the name “Lulu” were spotted.

Additionally, his sister Moreblessings Vanessa Chivayo later shared a video featuring Lucy Muteke and referred to her as “Amai Wicky”, helping identify her publicly as Lucy “Lulu” Muteke.

After their relationship was made public, it progressed quickly with Chivayo proposing to Muteke in early 2025 .

He later introduced her to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House, referring to her as his “soon-to-be wife.”

Reports said the couple married in March 2025, with their traditional marriage ceremony reportedly held at Muteke’s family home in Marondera.

Lulu Muteke’s Public Life With Chivayo

Following their marriage, Muteke occasionally appeared alongside Chivayo at social events, family occasions, and during their travels.

She also became increasingly visible through photographs and posts shared by her husband.

However, despite the attention surrounding their relationship, Muteke generally maintained a lower public profile than Chivayo.

The couple did not have children together. Chivayo, however, had two children from his previous marriage to his ex-wife, Sonja Madzikanda, a son born in 2018 and a daughter born in 2019.

Lucy and Chivayo died on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after the helicopter they were travelling in crashed near Marondera, east of Harare.

Zimbabwean government spokesperson Nick Mangwana confirmed that there were no survivors.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the aircraft crashed in the Marondera Rural area at around 5pm, with six people on board.
