SHA Extends Contracting Deadline, Giving Hospitals More Time to Comply
Share
Healthcare providers have received more time to complete the Social Health Authority (SHA) contracting process for the 2026–2029 cycle after the agency extended the deadline by 14 days.
The extension gives healthcare facilities that are yet to complete the process additional time to meet the requirements before the new deadline of October 14, 2026.
“SHA has extended the contracting deadline by 14 days, to 14th October 2026, to give healthcare facilities more time to complete contracting for the 2026–2029 cycle,” the Authority stated.
SHA Sets Terms for Contracting Extension
During the extension period, healthcare facilities will continue operating under their existing contracts.
However, the authority said those contracts will lapse once the additional 14 days end, with no further extension.
For providers whose contracts ended on September 30, 2026, the authority will issue a 14-day extension via the e-contracting platform.
Each provider must confirm acceptance, sign, and return the agreement within three days to maintain services for SHA beneficiaries.
Consequently, services for beneficiaries will continue only in facilities that accept the 14-day extension.
The Agency also reported that 10,006 providers had expressed interest and were at various stages of the contracting process.

Authority to Conduct HAKIKA Contracting Clinics
To further assist providers, the authority will conduct dedicated HAKIKA contracting clinics in every county from Monday, October 5, 2026, through the respective SHA County Offices.
“To support providers in completing the contracting process for the 2026-2029 contracting cycle, SHA will conduct dedicated HAKIKA contracting clinics in every county beginning Monday, 5th October 2026, through the respective SHA County Offices. HAKIKA Clinics Schedule and Provider requirements will be posted on the SHA website,” the notice read.
Additionally, the Authority encouraged facilities that already have the necessary documents to complete the contracting process instead of waiting until the deadline.
“Facilities with all the required documents are encouraged to continue and complete the contracting process without waiting for the deadline,” the authority stated.

Guidance on Patient Transfers
Meanwhile, facilities that do not accept the extension will need to coordinate with their respective SHA county managers to transfer patients receiving ongoing care.
“Providers who may not accept the extension should proceed to make arrangements with their respective SHA county managers on the transfer of patients receiving ongoing care to contracted providers to ensure continuity of treatment,” the authority added.
