22,000 KCB Agents Now Available to Airtel Money Customers in New Partnership

Kenyans are set to benefit from improved access to financial services following a new partnership between Airtel Money and KCB Bank that will allow Airtel Money customers to deposit and withdraw cash at more than 22,000 KCB agents across the country.

In a press release dated June 18, KCB Bank and Airtel Money stated that the collaboration aims at strengthening financial inclusion by enhancing interoperability within Kenya’s financial sector and reducing barriers to mobile money services.

“Airtel Money and KCB Bank have today unveiled a partnership that will enable Airtel Money customers to deposit and withdraw cash at the over 22,000 KCB Agents across the country,” read part of the press release.

According to the two institutions, the partnership is expected to enhance customer experience while supporting ongoing efforts to build a more connected and efficient digital financial ecosystem.

By linking Airtel Money services to KCB’s extensive agent network, customers will gain wider access to cash services across both urban and rural areas.

Speaking during the partnership signing, Airtel Money Kenya Managing Director Anne Kinuthia-Otieno said the collaboration reflects the company’s commitment to making financial services more accessible and convenient.

She noted that the integration of KCB’s agent network will significantly improve service delivery for customers across the country.

“By opening access to KCB’s extensive agent network, we are bringing Airtel Money services closer to more Kenyans and making it easier for customers to deposit and withdraw money wherever they are,” she said.

Additionally, Anne Kinuthia highlighted that partnerships such as this are key to expanding access to financial services while supporting the country’s broader financial inclusion agenda.

KCB Reaffirms Commitment to Financial Inclusion 

Further, KCB Bank Kenya Managing Director Mrs. Annastacia Kimtai said the partnership reflects the bank’s commitment to leveraging innovation and collaboration to build a more inclusive and interconnected financial services landscape.

She explained that the integration of mobile money platforms with banking agent networks is essential for scaling financial services and improving efficiency within the sector.

“What we are doing is recognizing the fact that diverse and interconnected opportunities are still core to the mobile money value proposition,” she said.

Kimtai added that expanding access through the agent network will help mobile money services “take root, proliferate, and scale up,” contributing to the maturity of the financial ecosystem.

Meanwhile, to access the service, customers will be required to present a valid national identification document and have a registered Airtel Money account.

Deposits will be free of charge, while standard withdrawal fees will apply as per Airtel Money tariff structures.
