Nairobi County’s Chief Environment Officer Geoffrey Mosiria offered a transformative new beginning to a man who has been living on a tree along Nairobi’s Jogoo road.

Man whom they named “tree man” had unusual living conditions that prompted a direct intervention from a generous city official culminating in life-changing act.

“When you see this house a long Jogoo road, is not a house it’s dirty thing. Instead of this man acquiring affordable housing unit he has grabbed avoidable housing unit,” said Mosiria.

He promised to buy a mkokoteni for the man and secure a good affordable house for him.

Mosiria also advised the man to reduce the use of illegal drugs when he start working to meet his daily bread.

The man believed that mkokoteni would provide a sustainable income through transporting goods, ultimately enabling him to afford proper housing.

Tree man also raised alarm to President William Ruto to consider him in his project of affordable housing unit so as his lifestyle can change.

He also thanked Mosiria after he purchased mkokoteni for him.

“Thank you for the good thing you had done for me, may God bless you abundantly so that you can continue doing for others,” said tree man.

Why Mosiria Decided to Offer Help

Mosiria said the reason he decided to offer help is because, tree man can easily be knocked by moving vehicles and motorcycles to death because he lives along the road.

He added that the man can also get sick due to dirty living condition.

Reasons Why the Man Decided to Live on Tree

According to tree man, his friends and close people used to bully him and sidelined him.

Incase he had access to anything, it was taken from him by force something that made him live his own life.

However, he has promised not to live like a bird again.

Mosiria has also pledged to secure a rental house for him, committing to cover the full cost of four months’ rent.

This support is meant to provide a stable foundation for a fresh start.

Deeply moved by the man’s joyful reaction, Mosiria reflected on the powerful impact of compassion.

“I was deeply moved to see him smile. It reminded me how powerful even a small act of kindness can be,” Mosiria said.

He ended his account with a public encouragement, urging those with the means to help others in need, emphasizing that such actions possess the undeniable power to change a life.
