Former Machakos Senator and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) founder, Johnson Muthama, is in mourning following the passing of his son on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Several media reports indicate that he developed breathing problems while at home and was rushed to a hospital, where he later passed away. Condolences continue to pour in for the family.
He was also the son of the current Machakos Senator, Agnes Kavindu Muthama, the former spouse of Johnson Muthama.
Moses was the only child of Senator Kavindu and former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama.
Following his passing, several leaders, led by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, condoled with the family.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Machakos Senator Hon. Agnes Kavindu Muthama and her family during this difficult time. I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your son, Moses Muthama. Please accept our sincerest condolences. Pole sana, Mheshimiwa,” Wambua said.

Alongside his sister, Alice, Moses addressed a press conference in which they described Agnes Kavindu’s bid as a selfish political move, arguing that it was intended to embarrass their father, former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama.
