The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced the arrest of two suspects linked to the murder of Rev. Julius Ndumia Ngari of Presbyterian Church of East Africa Tabuga Parish in Lanet, Nakuru.
In a statement released on Saturday, May 9, the DCI said detectives had made progress in investigations into the killing that shocked residents and members of the church.
Rev. Ndumia was attacked and killed at the church compound on the night of May 3, 2026.
According to the DCI, the attackers stormed the church compound at PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub-County and attacked the cleric inside his residence.
The church watchman, identified as Bernard Nyamwaka, was also seriously injured during the incident and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
“In the incident, Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari was brutally murdered, and the church watchman, Mr. Benard Nyamwaka, was seriously assaulted and hospitalized,” the DCI said in the press release.
Investigators also revealed that the attackers broke into the church office and the reverend’s residence before stealing cash, mobile phones, and other valuables.

The DCI said officers from the Homicide Unit, Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CR&IB), and the Operations Support Unit (OSU), working together with Nakuru North police officers, arrested two suspects connected to the crime.
Police said the suspects were found with valuables believed to have been stolen from the late reverend.
“Following extensive forensic and intelligence-led investigations by DCI teams from Homicide, CR&IB, and OSU, in collaboration with officers from Nakuru North, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime,” the statement read.
The suspects remain in police custody as detectives continue with interrogations and forensic analysis.
The DCI further revealed that detectives are investigating whether a larger criminal network was involved in the attack.
“Detectives are conducting advanced forensic analyses and meticulously reviewing critical evidence believed to be linked to a wider criminal network behind this heinous act,” the agency stated.
Police also assured the public that every effort is being made to arrest all those involved in the killing.
“The DCI strongly condemns this senseless and violent attack and assures the public that every effort is being made to apprehend all individuals involved and ensure they face the full force of the law,” the statement added.

Earlier, Bahati MP Irene Njoki strongly condemned the killing, describing it as brutal and unacceptable.
“I strongly and unequivocally condemn the heinous murder of Rev. Julius N. Ndumia, Parish Minister of PCEA Tabuga Parish. This was a brutal and unacceptable act, and those responsible will not escape justice,” Njoki said.
The MP revealed that she had spoken directly with the Inspector General of Police and demanded immediate investigations into the matter.
“I have spoken directly with the Inspector General of Police, and investigations must be immediate, thorough, and conclusive. There must be no delays, no excuses, and no half measures,” she added.
The DCI has urged members of the public to continue cooperating with investigators by sharing any information that may help in the case.
