The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Kenya is set to launch a mass digital volunteering campaign aimed at recruiting 200 virtual volunteers ahead of a future continental inclusion drive focused on accessibility, innovation, and artificial intelligence.
The campaign will seek interested candidates capable of contributing in remote mode to content creation, advocacy, and coordination of online participation campaigns in preparation for an important regional conference to be held in Nairobi in 2026.
“We are seeking out 200 volunteers to assist us in promoting the Inclusive Africa Conference 2026,” UNDP Kenya stated.
“Help us in making the continent digitally inclusive,” UNDP Kenya added.
The task is organized under the framework of the short-term, remote volunteerism model offered by UNDP Kenya and will require up to five hours of effort each week.
Selected volunteers will support communication efforts for the Inclusive Africa Conference 2026, which will bring together several hundred in-person participants and thousands of online attendees.
The campaign will run in collaboration with inABLE and will contribute to the achievement of SDG 9 on industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
All activities will take place online over a one-week period.
The 2026 Inclusive Africa Conference will be held in Nairobi on 2–4 June 2026 with the theme, “Digital Accessibility and AI Solutions for Africa’s Future.”
It aims to discuss the potential for using new technologies to increase accessibility for persons with disabilities and enable them to participate economically.
“The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works in 170 countries and territories to eradicate poverty and protect the planet,” UNDP states.
It also focuses on the themes of governance, digital innovation, and inclusive development in its country program in Kenya.
The conference will focus on inclusive employment, assistive technology, entrepreneurship, and digital financial services.
Organizers say these thematic areas are designed to strengthen the participation of persons with disabilities in the digital economy.
A key milestone will be the launch of the Kenya Disability Inclusion Partnership (KDIP), which will serve as a coordination platform for resource mobilization, accessibility standards, and policy alignment across African digital ecosystems.

Selected volunteers will be required to share campaign content, engage audiences across social media platforms, and produce original weekly posts aligned with official messaging toolkits provided by UNDP Kenya and inABLE.
They will also participate in virtual coordination sessions and submit engagement reports tracking reach and interaction levels.
“Volunteerism is understood as a wide range of activities undertaken of free will, for the general public good,” the programme notes.

The applicants are required to show that they are actively engaged on social media sites like Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, or TikTok, together with good communication skills and creativity in the development of digital content.
Bilingual skills in English, Kiswahili, French, Arabic, or Portuguese are viewed as a bonus.
Collaboration is also emphasized by the organizers, as the importance of coordination in messaging and digital activism would be key to the success of the campaign.
