Kiriri Women’s University Advertises Senior DVC Academic Affairs Position

The Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology has officially announced a senior leadership vacancy for the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), inviting applications from highly qualified academic professionals to steer its academic mandate.

In a formal vacancy notice, the institution stated: “Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology wishes to recruit a dynamic and innovative leader for the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs).”

The university emphasized its identity and mission as a specialized institution dedicated to women’s empowerment in science and technology education.

It described itself as, “a women’s university of academic excellence in the scientific and technological formation and promotion of the full and holistic woman as a responsible member of the human community.”

According to the announcement, the successful candidate will assume a central leadership role in overseeing academic affairs and programme management.

“The successful candidate shall give leadership in the academic affairs and management of academic programmes,” the notice further stated.

Strategic Academic Leadership Role

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) will report directly to the Vice Chancellor and will be expected to drive strategic planning within the academic division.

The role includes: development and review of academic policies and procedures, as well as oversight of academic programmes and research initiatives.

The university also highlighted responsibilities in management and administration of examinations, and growth of library and information development.

In addition, the office will be tasked with strengthening institutional linkages.

“Establishment of linkages between the University and other academic/research organizations,” Kiriri noted.

The role also extends to ensuring discipline and welfare within the institution, including:

  • Efficiency and good order, including welfare,
  • Conduct and discipline of staff and students,
  • Leading fundraising initiatives for institutional development.

Academic and Professional Requirements

Applicants are required to hold an earned PhD or equivalent in a relevant field and possess at least ten years of senior academic and administrative experience in higher education.

The university specified that experience as a Chair of Department, Dean of faculty or Director would be particularly relevant.

The institution further emphasized leadership capability.

“Candidates must demonstrate leadership skills and management of academic programmes at the university level and be knowledgeable in strategic planning and management of a complex education institution,” the notice stated.

Integrity and ethical conduct were also highlighted as essential attributes, alongside ICT competence.

An additional advantage will be accorded to candidates who are Associate Professors or Full Professors.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications, curriculum vitae, certified academic documents, and transcripts, along with current remuneration details.
