India Orders All Travelers From Ebola-Affected Countries to Submit Online Health Form

India has started using the Air Suvidha portal for all passengers coming from or passing through countries where Ebola is a problem.
Now the government wants travelers to fill out the Self-Declaration Form on the internet before they get off the plane.
This new system is of the old paper-based system that they used to have at airports.
People in charge say that this digital process helps keep an eye on health issues and makes it faster for passengers to get through when they arrive.

New Travel Rule for Affected Areas and India’s Financial Aid to Africa
This new rule started after the World Health Organization said that Ebola is a deal for public health all around the world.
People in charge said that this rule applies now to flights from areas where the World Health Organization says Ebola is a problem.
This is happening after India’s Union Health Minister JP Nadda said that India will give US $10 million to help with Ebola in Africa.
JP Nadda made this promise during a meeting that the African Union had on the internet on June 17.
The President of Burundi and the head of the African Union Evariste Ndayishimiye was in charge of this meeting.

India’s Support for Ebola Outbreak Response in Africa
After the meeting, JP Nadda wrote on X: “I was part of the African Unions meeting on the internet where leaders from Africa and other countries talked about working to fight the Ebola outbreak. The President of Burundi was in charge of this meeting. India said again that it will support Africa’s efforts to get ready for and respond to the Ebola outbreak and we promised to give USD 10 million to help.”
He said that India had already sent 45 tonnes of supplies to the areas that are affected.
The minister also said that India is ready to send help if the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the countries that are at risk ask for it.
JP Nadda said: “In addition to the 45 tonnes of supplies that we already sent, India is ready to give more help with medical supplies, laboratory equipment, things to help diagnose diseases and important medicine.”
Health officials will check the forms that people fill out on the internet when they arrive to collect paper documents.
