Jackie Matubia Reveals Heartbreaking Betrayal After Long-Serving Nanny Abruptly Leaves

Jackie Matubia, an actress in Kenya, has spoken out about what she calls an extremely difficult betrayal following the alleged disappearance of her nanny, who has been working for her family for close to six years.
On speaking about the matter, Matubia said that she knew something was wrong when her driver called to say that the nanny could not be traced.
According to the actress, the nanny had earlier informed her that she would be going to the hospital, making the initial situation appear normal until repeated attempts to contact her failed.
“My nanny of five years, almost six years, has done me dirty. I feel completely betrayed. My driver called me and told me he had arrived to pick up the car, but the nanny was nowhere to be found. When I asked what he meant, he said he had been trying to call her, but she wasn’t answering. I told him not to worry, to go and pick up my daughter from school while I tried to reach the nanny because she had told me she was going to the hospital,” Matubia said.
Unanswered Calls Raise Alarm
Matubia said she immediately began calling the nanny’s four phone numbers, but none of the calls went through.
She then contacted the school to notify them that her driver would collect her daughter, Zendaya, instead.
According to the actress, it was during the conversation with the school that she realised the seriousness of the situation and feared that her child could end up alone at home if she did not act quickly.
“I called all four of her phone numbers, but they were all unavailable. I then called the school to let them know that my driver would be picking up Zendaya. Something they told me made me realise how serious the situation was. That’s when it hit me, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, my child is about to be home alone.’ I immediately rushed from the set I was recording,” Jackie Matubia lamented.

Discovery at Home
Despite her growing concerns, Matubia said she initially hoped there had been an emergency preventing the nanny from answering her calls.
However, upon arriving home, she discovered that all of the nanny’s belongings had already been removed.
The actress explained that she had recently purchased a new washing machine and had decided to gift her previous one to the nanny.
A few days earlier, the nanny had informed her that a tuk-tuk would be arriving to collect the appliance, and Matubia had instructed security at the gate to allow it entry.
“I still tried to convince myself that maybe something had happened. But when I got home and entered the bedroom, I found that she had taken everything. I had recently bought a new washing machine and gave her my old one. A few days ago, she called and asked me to inform the gate that a tuk-tuk would come to collect it. That’s when she packed all her belongings and left,” Matubia narrated.
Retirement Plans Sudden
According to Matubia, she had been planning for the nanny’s retirement, which was scheduled to take place this year, and had even been thinking of funding her in order to start a business.
The actress further added that they had planned to start the visa application process the coming week.

“She has actually saved me because we had already agreed that she would retire this December. I had even been discussing with Njoki how much money I should give her to help her start her own business. She had shared her dreams with me, and next week we were even supposed to begin a visa application. There were so many plans,” Matubia said.
Emotional Reflection
Reflecting on the incident, Matubia admitted that the experience had left her questioning the value of kindness and loyalty in employer-employee relationships.
She said she had always tried to treat the nanny well and support her aspirations, making the alleged manner of departure particularly painful.
“There is so much that happened, but I have just told myself that no matter how well you treat people, no matter how much you give them or support them, some will still leave you feeling like you meant nothing to them,” Jackie Matubia concluded.
