Suspected Illegal Firearms Dealer Arrested While Travelling to Nairobi

A high-profile suspect who is believed to be a major trader in an illegal arms trade network has been arrested by officers from the National Police Service (NPS).

According to a statement by NPS on July 8, they intercepted and arrested the suspect at the Kanyonyo Vehicle Checkpoint (VCP) while in transit to Nairobi.

After they conducted a targeted search of the vehicle, police officers discovered some firearms and a large cache of ammunition.

Preliminary investigations by NPS have established that the suspect who was arrested is so much involved in the illegal sale, distribution, and supply of illegal firearms and ammunition across different places.

Criminal Network

This arrest by the police has therefore disrupted a big criminal supply chain, which was intended to propel criminal activity within Nairobi and its outskirts.

Police say the arrested suspect is currently in their custody and is helping them with investigations to uncover his entire network of buyers and sellers.

The suspect is due to be arraigned in court to face charges of buying and supplying illegal firearms and ammunition.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the police are working towards finding out all the details of the operation.

Cases Of Insecurity

Another case was recently reported where four suspects shot at the police, they were arrested while some of them fled the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing together with a man hunt to find the suspects who managed to escape from the scene.
